I started learning Python last year to do some scripting at work for testing, I recently discovered the game libraries (pygame, pyglet, etc) so have started looking into writing a game.
This is something I’ve been wanting to do from an early age back when I got my first 8-bit computer and never had the time or the skills to achieve.
After just a week of using pyglet during my lunch hour at work and a couple of hours at night I’m well on my way to finishing my first game, a breakout/ arkanoid clone.
Enjoying every minute of it.

I remember playing this old DOS game on a mate’s PC.
Need to download the Nintendo DS version :)
Arguably the best DOS-based shoot-em up in my opinion, Tyrian is now available for gamers on Windows, Mac OS X, Linux (and Nintendo DS, PSP, even Wii!), thanks to the dedicated efforts of the OpenTyrian team who modified the source code to use the cross-platform SDL libraries and of course, Jason Emery, who graciously offered Tyrian as freeware back in 2004.

A platform game (also known as platformer) is a video game genre distinguished by jumping to and from suspended platforms or over obstacles. A very famous example of a platform game is the best selling video game of all time, which is the Super Mario Bros.
