| Melt Mail is a free email forwarding service that creates a temporary email address that forwards all incoming mail to your real email address. To use it, just enter the email address you want messages forwarded to, select how long you want it to work, then hit Create. Melt Mail generates a random address that you can use with impunity to register on spam-likely sites, for example, and after 3, 6, 12, or 24 hours, the forwarding will stop. We’ve coveredboatloads of similar disposable email applications, so Melt Mail isn’t breaking any new ground, but since some services won’t allow you to register with popular temporary email addresses, it’s worthwhile to have another option in your arsenal. Besides, the dead-simple interface is a nice touch.

I really need to do this. | | | If you’ve been on the internet for any substantial amount of time you’ve likely accumulated your fair share of email addresses. Old school addresses, an assortment of free web-based addresses from Hotmail and Yahoo, and so on all contribute to you having too many addresses and little desire to keep checking the old ones. What can you do to cut down on your email excess? Wired Magazine has a how-to guide to help you consolidate your past email addresses without simply abandoning them into the digital void.

Could be useful for signing up to dodgy sites :) | | | Disposable email addresses provide the user with an easy to access temporary email address that they can use to register to services on the Internet without having to think about protecting their main email address from spam. While most Internet services are legit and do not sell the email addresses of their users some do sell them. Once an email address is on a spam list it is close to impossible to prevent spam from arriving in the mail inbox.
